Belated Holiday

I'M ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh. You already knew that? Well congratulations smarty pants nobody cares. Just kidding, that was mean.

I realize I'm really late on talking about Valentines Day. I'm not even sure why I'm really posting about it. I don't have a boyfriend, never have. So why am I talking about it? Well I'm not actually going to talk about relationships and all that good stuff like most people do (you can relax now). Basically I'm just making a short little post to say I actually did "talk" about it.

I would like to say one thing though. If you are going to get mad at me because I missed the deadline think about this day. This is a normal day right? Right. This is a normal day where it isn't expected of you to do anything for your special loved one or somebody you care about or whatever. So just think of this day (and every other day that isn't Valentine's Day) as "A Normal Day Where I Can Be Even More Awesome Than Normal By Surprising Someone I Care About With Something Equally As Awesome To Show Them How Awesome I Think They Are." You can remember it as the longest holiday ever if you want. I'm not saying you have to do something on a normal day I'm just saying think about it. Why should we have a specific holiday for something we should be doing all the time? Doesn't make sense.

Sorry, started ranting. That was a lot longer than I thought it would be. So here is what I wanted to do. Below are two songs. I like them. They are cute and talk about love. If you don't like that don't watch/listen to them. It's as simple as that.

And now for our feature presentation:

There are many more but I will stick with just those two. If you really liked them you should go check out more of their songs and tell them I sent you! You don't really have to do that if you don't want to.

Have a fantabulous day and eat lots of food because food is good for you!

Christmas Colors

Red and green are Christmas colors. When I see them together I automatically think "Christmas! Yeah!" It's just the way it is. Red and green are Christmas colors. Not purple or blue or macaroni yellow. But why not? Well that's the thought I had so I thought I would google it and save you the trouble looking for the answer.

So one website says there are two reasons for these two colors being the official Christmas colors.
  1. Green was seen as the symbol of life before Jesus was born. They would cut down trees and put them in their house during winter to symbolize that they are still alive despite the harsh weather (Christmas tree history right there too...your welcome). The Romans would hang up holly wreaths during a festival called natalis solis invicti (“birth of the invincible sun") in order to welcome back the sun and warm weather. They celebrated these holidays on December 25th. There are also other pagan holidays that contributed to the colors but there isn't much more information about them.
  2. Many of the traditions previously mentioned occur after the death of Jesus too. They are amplified when the green color is seen more as eternal life. Red was also added more with red berries and apples to symbolize the blood Jesus shed.

That's all I really want to share and is the majority of what I found. If you want more here (<-- click that word right there) is a website that you can hear more details that I got bored with because my music is distracting me from focusing on it.

Well I hope you enjoyed that short little background on the colors of Christmas. I don't know about you but it makes me feel better knowing that there is an actual reason red and green are the colors and not just some random colors people decided looked cool together.

The Fort

Talk about ridiculous prices, creepy old guy, food, dressing up, Waugh and gift, and singing ladies plus magically appearing food and sneaky waiters and waitress saying thank you very much to every one and thanking us. Think of singing "please don't eat me" from dragon song in avpm while eating

So as I said in my previous post I had a Christmas party on the first with some family friends. Every year we get together and we trade off going to each others house. This year it was our friend who is really big into Christmas. When I was younger she would always buy us each at least 10 presents. She still does now just not as much because we got rid of the gift exchange part. Anyway this time she decided to take us to The Fort. The Fort is a very fancy restaurant where two people can easily spend over $100.

This be the place.
So before we actually left I asked my parents if I needed to dress up. The response: "YES!" I couldn't even wear jeans! That's my life! If you don't know me I hate dressing up. It's a pain in the butt. My normal outfit consists of jeans, a T-shirt, and a hoodie (socks and tennis shoes as well). My hair is also up in a pony tail and no make-up is on my face. When I'm home and know I'm not going anywhere I will where sweats instead of jeans and slippers. Anyway they said I could wear some black pants I had but I really didn't want to because they always have cat hair on them and aren't that comfortable and I'm all about comfort. So I decided if I had to go to this place and dress up it was all or nothing. Since my parents wouldn't let me wear sweats I went with a dress. I even straightened my hair and put on some makeup (I used my friend's boots that I borrowed at one point and haven't given back yet....oops). I brought clothes to change into for when we went back to her house because I refused to stay in that outfit longer than I had to.

The food:
Well once everything started we got drinks (I got water because after looking at the prices of their appetizers I was afraid their drinks would be really expensive too). We got an appetizer that had three different kinds of sausage on it. The one I had tasted like chili to me. Kinda weird. Then we got our main meals (I got filet mignon) it was very good and like $40 dollars. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. The first time I got the menu I wanted to know if they had a kids meal because I would be fine with that. Well let's just say my father said no to that too. The food was really good though. I'm not a big steak fan but that was good stuff. I would eat that again. My father got a full rack of ribs and I kid you not the stack was as big as my head. There was a lot of food and that was good too. The vegetables were also really good which impressed me because normally I will pass on them at a restaurant.

The Atmosphere:
There was this Mountain Man there that would sneak up behind you and just stand there until you turned around. The only way you would know that he was there is when the people around you would tell you. At first I didn't think he was a mountain man...I thought he was a strange Santa Claus because he had the beard and everything except for the clothes. I was confused. He was rather creepy.

There was also this group of four ladies that would go around singing Christmas carols at each table. That was really cool. They were good too.

The Service:
The service was very good (probably part of the reason it is so expensive there). You got an appetizer menu and once you were done eating your appetizer they would take your dirty dishes and give you new dishes for the rest of your meal. I was really confused at first because they took my knife and fork. When we got our main meal they gave us a different knife that seemed rather sharp to me. You would also be eating and then suddenly see that more food arrived and be really confused as to how it got there and if a waiter/waitress put it there. It was magical. Like the tables at Hogwarts. Our waitress also kept saying "Thank you very much" after we ordered. It seemed strange to me because you are the one making us the food we should be thanking you (granted it isn't free by any means but your still giving us good food). Plus it was weird because she said it to every person and it got really repetive.

Other:
After we were done eating we were given this pieces of paper. Some of the said that if you went to their store you would get a gift. So we went to the shop and got a block of fancy chocolate. That was nice. On the paper the word "Waugh" was written which I didn't really understand why it was there. Maybe that is somebody's name. When I googled it there was an author with that last name and a Waugh school district and a bunch of other people.

The prices were ridiculous in my mind. You didn't get any more food than you would in any other place yet you spent at least $40 unless you were a vegetarian. If you're a vegetarian and you get their vegetarian dish that is $20. Vegetarians for the win!

While I was eating my meal I got a song stuck in my head. It is a Starkid song called "The Dragon Song." Before I share the video you should know that the only part of the song that was stuck in my head was when he sings "So please don't eat me." I was singing "please don't eat me" in my head while I was eating my meat. Sigh. How does that even happen? On the video I would go to 5:45 if you don't want to watch that much and actually want to know what I'm talking about. If you want to watch the whole video go for it!

That was my adventure at The Fort. Sorry this post was rather long.

Thanksgiving!

So before I go off on a tangent I'm going to say what needs to be said.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gobble Gobble
Yes I know that's tomorrow but I probably won't get the chance to say it tomorrow so I'm saying it now. Deal with it.

So thanksgiving break for me started really at 8:20 AM Friday last week. Why such an odd time? Well I will tell you why. SDYC was this last weekend and I went to that (that stands for Southern District Youth Conference. It's this big conference (imagine that) where youth (wow strange that's part of the name too) go to worship and learn more about God. We left on Friday around 11 AM. Will you be hearing more about this conference? Well I would like to tell you more but I probably won't. I had a test first hour that day and couldn't make it up the day before because I was making up another test I would be missing. So I went to school for the first hour to take the test (AP Biology test...not fun) and then left.

I planned on getting a lot done over thanksgiving break. I had planned on making like 4 bracelets, reading a book, finishing with college, and doing all my homework in the first two days. I had also planned on blogging everyday. Well I finished 2 bracelets, read half my book, did some college but not a lot, and haven't even started my homework. Obviously I haven't been blogging everyday either. That sounds like something so simple to do. Just share a video or something dumb that happened and post it. Hurray! Easy peasy.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy
Well turns out its not that easy. See some stuff happened in my life that caused that to happen. The main one is that iTunes hates me and decided to stop working. There was an update for my iPod so I tried to do that but I had to get the newest version of iTunes. So I did that thinking "Well at least I will be all updated." Then when I tried to update my iPod it said "Couldn't connect to iPod server." Well when I read that I was like what and just tried it again and as you can probably guess it still didn't work. Oh I couldn't sync my iPod either.

My look when it said it couldn't connect to iPod server.
So I googled and everything I found was too smart for me to do or I didn't understand what they were talking about. So I told my father and he tried all this stuff and that didn't work so he emailed the iTunes people. Well when they replied they told him to try everything he already tried. Thanks that was really helpful...not. So my father downloaded the newest version of iTunes onto his computer and I was so impatient that I went and updated my iPod on his computer. Well I lost all my music, apps, and videos by doing that. I still have all my pictures though which is very strange to me but whatever. I got very frustrated when this happened because well iTunes on my computer didn't have any music or videos or anything because he uninstalled and reinstalled so it was blank.

Stupid Apple

My father found all my music and stuff though and put that on iTunes. Still can't sync my iPod though so I have an iTunes that is rather useless and can't use my iPod for anything I really want to use it for. So my father was on my computer for a good amount of time so I couldn't use it (I suppose I could have used his computer...oops).

I also watched the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I learned that I don't really like them because they are so gross and strange...but they are so good! I finished watching the third one today and well it took me 6 hours to watch the whole thing (I was interupted many times and had to leave the house to do errands...hurray (<-- read in sarcastic tone)). That was fun and I finished some bracelets during that time.

While I was doing my errands there was one dude that annoyed me. I was stopped because the light turned yellow and the dude behind me wanted to turn right. I was the only person in front of him and I was going to straight so normally he would have to wait for me to go before he could go. Well when I looked in my rear view mirror he was all like "You have got to be kidding me". That didn't bug me though because I tend to get that reaction a lot. What bugged me was that he started to turn his wheel and went up on the curve to get past me and turn. Really? Come on now.

Because of this dude I have decided to share this video with you about driving. Note: It is a series with 10 episodes and this is the fourth episode. It is probably my newest and shortest obsession. You should watch it. Anyway this explains the rules of the road because I think the world needs to be reminded about how to drive.

I found that quite amusing and maybe it will remind you to be careful when traveling. Enjoy Thanksgiving!

P.S. REMEMBER THE RULES OF THE ROAD!

Fun in Zoology

I am currently in one of our computer labs for zoology. We are supposed to do a research paper on some topic of some animal you pick. Descriptive, I know. When I first heard about the paper I wanted to do an ocelot. However, with more research on them I could find a specific topic that would work to write 3-5 pages on.

This is an ocelot. They are so pretty!
I have now decided (thanks to our sub who is quite helpful surprisingly because she is a vet) that I will talk about an endangered animal and how to help preserve its habitat and stuff like that (yes, I know I'm being very descriptive like I always am...not!)

I have narrowed it down to either a Red panda
Aren't they so cute!?
or a clouded leopard.

I love their tail!
I'm not really sure which one I'm going to do but it will probably depend on whether or not one of my classmates does the red panda or not.

This class has been very nice we pretty much just looked up cool animals and found some very interesting species.

This is an Axolotl also known as a Mexican walking fish.
Well hope you enjoyed this random post. If you know of another really cool animal tell me about it or just admire it. Animals are awesome!

P.S. I "updated" my blog for the holidays. I don't really know if I really like it or not but I kind of decided I liked this one the best so I'm going to stick with it until Christmas. It's kind of bright but that means its like the leaves on trees right now! I don't know.

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween everybody! I hope you have a super day and get lots of candy! So just a heads up I probably won't be changing the design until the week of thanksgiving so don't get mad at me if my blog is still celebrating Halloween even though its been over for a few weeks. Also probably won't be blogging much either (I got lucky today and did this during my off hour).

In the spirit of Halloween here is one of my favorite things during the holiday season...dancing lights! This one is to Gangnam Style by PSY if you didn't read the title of it already. It is kpop but if you haven't heard it, well it's very popular and you must be out of it (they played this at my homecoming).

Well thank you for visiting and I found this video too since it's a shorter post than normal and Halloween should be a fun holiday for everyone (even if your not in America). It's really quite interesting just stare at the swirly thing for 40 seconds and try not to fall asleep...I almost fell asleep so see if you can do better than me. Good luck!

Happy Halloween (again)!

It's Only September!

On my way to church this morning we had a Christian radio station playing in our car. At first I wasn't paying much attention to the music. Then I realized I liked the song and got happy. I got so excited that I even said "Oh!" out loud. Before I could say anything else I realized why I got so happy. It was a Christmas song that was playing.

A Christmas song...in September. What?!

Okay I really love Christmas music but I also think that it should only be played at a certain time. That time is after Thanksgiving. Why? Because we should focus on every holiday equally not just the one's that make us the happiest. Don't skip over Thanksgiving just because you don't have anything to sell to people. Think about the commercials for Thanksgiving. "Be thankful for what you have! But your rug looks worn down and you should get a new one." They can't really advertise Thanksgiving so they skip over it. Not okay, but I digress.

Why does this bug me so much? Well I'm glad you asked.
  1. As I have already pointed out its only September. We haven't even come close to thinking about Halloween for crying out loud!
  2. The Christmas songs they were playing on this Christian radio station weren't Christian. Now I don't think all Christmas music should be about Jesus. Some of my favorite Christmas songs aren't about Jesus. I just think that a Christian radio station should be able to a Christian Christmas song. I heard three Christmas songs on this station and none of them were about Jesus.
The radio station did explain that they are randomly playing Christmas songs only this weekend. They explained that they are doing this because its been a hot summer and they are playing Christmas music to help us mentally cool down. Like our brains were going to explode because it's not Christmas yet. Well whatever it was an interesting surprise and I don't listen to that station very much so I guess I'll survive.

Do you need to mentally cool down? Well here you go:

P.S. Until I get smarter at videos you are going to have to deal with awkwardly sized videos.
